Per Person
The Tungnath–Chopta–Chandrashila Trek is one of the most scenic and accessible treks in the Indian Himalayas, located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Known for its breathtaking 360° views of the Garhwal and Kumaon ranges, including peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Dome, and Chaukhamba, this short yet rewarding trek is perfect for beginners and seasoned trekkers alike.
The journey begins at Chopta, often called the “Mini Switzerland of India,” surrounded by lush meadows and dense forests of pine, deodar, and rhododendron. The trail ascends to Tungnath, the world’s highest Shiva temple at an altitude of 3,500 meters, and continues up to the Chandrashila summit (around 3,680 meters). The summit offers a stunning panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayas, making it one of the best vantage points in Uttarakhand.
The trek is typically 4–5 km one way from Chopta to Chandrashila and can be completed in a day, though many prefer to stay overnight in Chopta or near Tungnath to enjoy the serenity and sunrise views from the summit. The route is accessible almost year-round, but each season brings a unique charm—snow-covered trails in winter, lush greenery in summer, and vibrant rhododendron blooms in spring.
Whether for spirituality, adventure, or photography, the Tungnath–Chopta–Chandrashila trek is a compact Himalayan experience that captures the essence of the mountains in just a few kilometers.
Begin your journey with a scenic 8-hour drive from Rishikesh to Ukhimath(Chopta). The route passes through Devaprayag and Rudraprayag, offering breathtaking views of the river running alongside the mountains throughout the drive. Check-in at a guesthouse or campsite in Chopta.
Trek from Chopta to the sacred Tungnath Temple (approx. 3.5 km), the highest Shiva temple in the world. After visiting the temple, continue the short but steep climb to Chandrashila Peak (approx. 1 km) for mesmerizing 360° views of the Himalayan ranges including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba. Descend back to Chopta for an overnight stay.
Begin your trek to Deoria Tal, a pristine high-altitude lake surrounded by dense forest. Enjoy the tranquil setting and the breathtaking reflection of snow-capped peaks in the clear waters. Spend some quiet time exploring or relaxing by the lake before returning to Chopta for the night.
After breakfast, drive back from Chopta to Haridwar or Rishikesh. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy some leisure time for shopping, café hopping, or exploring the local markets. Overnight stay at Haridwar/Rishikesh.
