Overview

The Vasuki Taal Trek is a stunning high-altitude journey that blends spirituality, adventure, and raw Himalayan beauty. Situated at an altitude of 4,135 meters (13,566 ft) above sea level, Vasuki Taal is a glacial lake located about 8 km from Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. Known for its crystal-clear waters and serene surroundings, the lake reflects the towering Chaukhamba peaks, offering trekkers a breathtaking panorama of the Garhwal Himalayas.

The trail to Vasuki Taal passes through the sacred town of Kedarnath, ascending through rugged terrain, snow patches, and alpine meadows adorned with rare Himalayan flora. Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh to to Gaurikund

• Distance: 210 km
• Duration: 8–9 hours

Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Rishikesh to Gaurikund, passing through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Guptkashi. Enjoy views of the Alaknanda River and the Himalayan foothills before reaching the base point for the Kedarnath trek. Overnight stay in Gaurikund.

Day 2: Trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath

• Altitude Gain: 1,982 mtr - 3,583 mtr

Start your ascent from Gaurikund through breathtaking pine forests, waterfalls, and steep climbs. The trail leads to the holy town of Kedarnath, home to one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Evening visit to Kedarnath Temple and overnight stay nearby.

Day 3: Trek from Kedarnath to Vasuki Tal Base Camp

Leave behind the temple town as you trek through moraine paths and alpine meadows, with spectacular views of Bharatekuntha and Mandani Parvat. Set up camp near Vasuki Tal Base, surrounded by serene mountain landscapes.

Day 4: Trek from Base Camp to Vasuki Tal and return to Kedarnath

• Duration: 6–7 hours

Trek uphill to the crystal-clear Vasuki Tal, a glacial lake nestled amid snow-clad peaks. Enjoy the panoramic views of Chaukhamba and Mandani ranges before descending back to Kedarnath for the night.

Day 5: Trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund

• Duration: 4–5 hours

Descend along the same scenic trail to Gaurikund, passing through lush forests and charming tea stalls. Rest and relax at Gaurikund after a fulfilling mountain journey.

Day 6: Drive back to Rishikesh
